Ethiopia: The Cradle of Mankind.

Ethiopia, is widely considered the place of the emergence of early Homo sapiens 400.000 years ago. Homo sapiens idaltu, found in Middle Awash, Ethiopia, lived about 160,000 years ago. You can still admire this skeleton of Lucy in the national museum of Addis Ababa.

In the 4th century BC, the land was dominated by smaller successor kingdoms, until the rise of one of these kingdoms during the 1st century BC. The Aksumite Empire, ancestor of medieval and modern Ethiopia, which was able to reunite the area.
Today you can still admire the substantial relics of this period in modern Axum.

The 12th century monolithic rock-cut churches of Lalibela are another juwel on Ethiopian’s crown. All these churches are well worth your visit.

Gondar was founded by Emperor Fasilides around the year 1635, and grew as an agricultural and market town. The castles of the Solomonic Emperors are still there to be admired in modern Gondar.

These items are only a hand grip of all the exceptional historical and cultural testimonies who prove the importance and beauty of Ethiopia.
