The Semien Mountains are a part of the Ethiopian Highlands.

The tallest peak is Ras Dashen 4.550m.

The Semiens are remarkable as being one of the few spots in Africa where snow regularly falls.

Despite their ruggedness and altitude, the mountains are dotted with villages linked by tracks.
