The Oromo people of Ethiopia have special festival which is celebrated a  week after the celebration of Meskel “ foundation of the true cross “.

This celebration is held to worship and to thank their God called “WAQA” . The celebration involves making offers on designated big tree, which is selected for this purpose close to a lake or water body and making reclamations of good wish, blessing and springing in the Lake of the water body which is considered mostly the place where the spirit is found.

Although the celebration is more of Animist belief but these day there are a lot Oromo Christian, Islamic and animist believer attend the ceremony since it is the tradition of this particular ethinic group in Ethiopia.
